The Trade Only Design Library, Inc., TODL.com, the leading specification library in the industry today released the results of a survey done by architects and designers from its membership of more than 37,000 trade professionals.

"Our members are extremely active industry professionals that span all areas - residential, contract, hospitality and healthcare. The respondents of this survey, reported that their firms specified more than 2.8 billion dollars in 2007 collectively," reports Jerry Dyas, President of TODL.

TODL’s survey illustrates the change in product research and specification with very clear results such as:

  • 62% of respondents "use the Internet for product research or specification daily"

  • 68% of respondents "don’t have the time I used to" for meetings with reps"

  • 44% of respondents "don’t participate in lunch and learn presentations"

"The way interior designers and architects specify is no longer changing.. it has already changed," said Stacey Tiveron CEO of TODL.com. "Buyers and specifiers want instant product information and manufacturers are being forced to find channels to provide their potentials buyers what they need. And from our research year to year, the Internet will be the first step in product research and specification."
