TODL Green launches at NeoCon 2007
2007-06-28 08:00:00 -0400 TODL co-sponsored with Interiors & Sources, the EnvironDesign Pavilion this year at NeoCon 2007. With the launch of TODL Green, the only sustainable green product specification site available and Interiors & Sources' Green Guide to NeoCon, it was very busy. For 3 days, attendees and manufacturers came to the Pavilion with their questions about all things green. Kim Gordon, TODL Green's on site environmentalist, spent 3 days talking with manufacturers as they expressed confusion about what they could or should do with their particular manufacturing processes and how to market the products they do have that are green. In essence, Kim states, "I think that the majority of the people I spoke with, designers included, sense an innate ability to make a difference (notably a needed difference), but most aren’t quite sure how to do it or how to make sense of all of this “green” buzz. At this point, it should be the goal of everyone involved to bridge that gap of misunderstanding into simplified choices through standardization. TODL Green is a vehicle to help with that….help make better choices." Jami Reilly, Director of Membership for TODL, spoke with hundreds of designers and students, answering questions like how TODL qualifies our manufacturers who are in the TODL Green category and gave demonstrations on how simple TODL Green is to search. Jami explained to attendees that manufacturers list on each of their product spec pages what qualifies that product, whether it's the process to make the product, using recycled or reclaimed materials, certifications, etc. She went on to say that even if a manufacturer can't afford to be certified (which is very costly), but does have green products, we give them the opportunity to be seen, in one very convenient location. Designers were very happy to know that we are committed to making this category larger, adding new green products every week. The overall response to TODL Green was so big, that it just makes it more of a committed goal to continue making a simple, easy to search green product tool that includes as many types of products we can find.
